Mud plugs

Mud plugs are simply made of dried mud.  They vary in color and texture.  Most mud plugs are made by Eumenid wasps, which provision their nests with caterpillars (or beetle larvae).

Mud plugs with a chunky texture completed early in the spring are made by the bee Osmia lignaria.
