The Bees’ Needs has hit the trails

The Bees’ Needs is spreading to public lands.  We have partnered with the City of Boulder Open Space and Mountain Parks to place bee blocks at 30 trailheads around Boulder. These will begin popping up in mid-May. See if you can locate all of them!Lykins Gulch

We have also partnered with City of Longmont Parks Department and Boulder County Open Space to place bee blocks along the St. Vrain Greenway in Longmont as a way to monitor the effects of last September’s flooding on the wood-nesting bees (and wasps) that live along the Greenway.

We hope you enjoy watching the bees and wasps, and perhaps even photographing them, while out on your favorite trails. See if you notice any differences in what is nesting at the different trails or between the trail blocks and what is nesting in your own block at home.
